Meet the Pirates Scheduled for August 18

The 18th Annual Meet the Pirates event, East Carolina's preseason football fanfest presented by United Healthcare, is scheduled for Saturday, August 18 inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium from 5-8 p.m. This year's activities will once again be open to the public, family friendly and free for all in attendance.

Pirate football fans are invited to receive autographs from head coach Ruffin McNeill and the 2012 team from 6-8 p.m. To help ensure everyone in attendance has a chance to meet all the players and Coach McNeill, fans are asked to please limit their autograph requests to one item per person.

Posters, schedule cards and magnets with game information will be available for free to fans. Other attractions include inflatable rides and games as well as the ECU cheerleaders and dance team. The spirit squads will be performing stunts and handing out stick-on Pirate tattoos.

ARAMARK concessions and a Dowdy Student Stores souvenir booth, which will have the latest in Pirate 2012 sideline gear and apparel, will be open beneath The Boneyard section of the stands adjacent to the east endzone. Fans are asked to keep their food and beverages off the football playing surface.
Photo opportunities with East Carolina's live swashbuckling mascot, PeeDee and the Pirate skull entrance tunnel will be complimentary via ECU Athletic Marketing on PeeDee's Promos Facebook page.
